CAS Blog (1/30/22)  C - Exploring and extending ideas leading to an original or interpretive product or performance Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. This week during my internship at Asia Society I had the opportunity to finally begin working on one of the big projects the organization is planning during the next few years. The concept is to build an exhibit featuring a train that uses screens to stimulate different sights around the world. However, the train is only "visiting" popular Asian landmarks, in every country imaginable. Some examples include China, Japan, Vietnam, India, Pakistan and eventually ending by visiting Asian places in local Houston. This is similar to an exhibit I saw in Chicago over summer break, so it was easy to picture what the finished result would look like. Additionally.  CAS Blog (1/23/22) C -  Exploring and extending ideas leading to an original or interpretive product or performance Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. This weekend I had the opportunity to go to my first interview for a paid working job. Before this, I only had experience in volunteering for various organizations such as the Beacon and the Houston Food Bank. As well, I interned at the Texas Asia Society as an Education and Outreach intern with the task of managing outreach projects, like reaching out to schools in the Houston area for a summer camp. Although my internship does enable me to learn about how to function in a workplace and to demonstrate leadership skills, there is still a difference from an actual job in which the work solely relies on you and your team members.  CAS BLOG (10/17/21) S - Service Learning Outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance. This Saturday I went and volunteered for several hours at the Beacon, a non-profit organization that serves the Houston homeless community through daily services, civil legal aid, counseling and mentoring, and access to housing. Since my introduction to the Beacon almost four years ago in the Post Oak Middle School, I have considered the place a great place to volunteer for the impact it has on providing aid for those suffering from homelessness. Recently, I have made it a part of my weekly schedule, not just for college requirements, but also because I enjoy helping out these people that have nowhere else to go. At the Beacon, there are several tasks that volunteers can do, for example: cleaning up the lunch area, handing out meals, laundry, etc.  During my Saturday shift, I was assigned to laundry, the one I usually do.  CAS BLOG (10/3/21) A - Action Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in a fieldwork experience. During Odyssey week I had the opportunity to both try new things as well as revisit some of the things I've done in years past. This included the Asia Society Tour (I had experience from last year's J-Term), but primarily the Galveston field trip. The Galveston trip was a nice refresher, seeing as I did a similar outing in the Post Oak Middle school. And by "similar" I mean exactly identical, since we revised the same place and did all of the same activities. Said activities included taking the water's temperature, "seining" or catching wildlife to examine, and planting marsh grass. In my opinion, planting the marsh grass was the most difficult service project we had to do the entire week. To properly plant the marsh grass we had to wade into the mud-filled water filled with random holes on the ground that made it easy to stumble. Then we had...
